Hawaii is the most beautiful island in the world, and they can call it paradise or the perfect place to retired or vacation. These past view years Oahu has a lot of progress in the City, like the development in Kaka’ako area, a lot of improvement in that area. But besides all the good, Hawaii still have many of homeless on the street with a camping house. It is so sad to see people in Hawaii who does not have house. I meant this is Hawaii, people does not aspect Hawaii to have homeless, they should enjoying life and work hard to live in Hawaii. This island is not cheap to live in, so the government should do something to make this work out for everyone.
In the mainland, they already increase the taxes to help the government to build houses for the homeless, now Hawaii wants to follow their foot steps to increase taxes in Hawaii, but Hawaii is already the second place the most expensive taxes in United States. People in Hawaii already did not agree with the increasing taxes, because some of them cannot afford it and the other Hawaiian resident are willing to pay more taxes, because they have the money to pay them with a decent job. Just wondering that, why not use the tax that already before and that tax is already high enough to make some houses for the homeless. Government is planning to make micro-units in Chinatown for homeless from increasing the tax. They want to make these micro-unit affordable and fits the family to live in. They said “The units were transformed from the city's commercial space at Winston Hale on River Street into housing as part of a $1 million project.” That is a lot of money to make a housing, so they government needs the society to help them to build the micro-unit for the homeless. This is a good idea but, it is a hard thing for people who cannot pay taxes, they could become a homeless after all. Hawaii is improving but only money can change these things. This is island, so they have to pay more to live in here, because not a lot of spaces to fits all people from around the world. http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/story/33542104/city-unveils-6-chinatown-micro-units-for-homeless-families http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/story/33628817/advocates-weigh-whether-property-tax-increase-could-help-house-homeless ”

Hey Vania, I think the issue of homelessness in Hawaii has crossed everyone's minds when being here. There are just so many people that are homeless here that it is impossible not to see or pass in the street.

It is distressing to see the way homeless people are treated and talked about by others. Something needs to be done, as no child or family should have to think of where they are going to get their next meal or where would be a safe place to sleep without getting harassed by others. I hope Hawaii can solve this problem.

Hi Vania, Homelessness in Hawaii is so sad, I am from Colorado and we have homeless but not nearly as many as here. The homeless people here in Hawaii can be aggressive at times so people are often scared of them. I hope we can find a solution to these problems.
